NYS Assembly District 96
Elect Ronny Diz to the NYS Assembly on Tuesday November 5, 2024
"The continuation of service towards our Nation!"
I'm Ronny Diz, and I'm asking for your support as I run for New York State Assembly District 96 to represent Clarkstown and Haverstraw in Albany. I live in the Hamlet of Garnerville on Phyllis Circle in the house I bought when I returned stateside from my second tour in the Iraq War. At the time, I was serving in the Army Reserve, in which I completed four overseas deployments.
I was born in Manhattan and lived in Woodside Queens, attending public schools in Woodside, Sunnyside, and Long Island City. After graduating high school, I enlisted in the United States Army for four years, serving in Texas, Germany, and Alaska. I volunteered for the Infantry and completed my active duty enlistment in the rank of Sargent. I went on to attend St. John's University and joined the ROTC Program on campus. After four years, I graduated with a degree in Western European and American History and a minor in American Government and Politics. I received my Federal Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and started serving within the Army Reserve, and on October 15, 1990, I entered into the New York City Police Academy. I served on patrol in the 19th Precinct, The Counter Terrorism Division, and the Intelligence Bureau. While serving in the NYPD, I attended John Jay College in Manhattan and graduated in the summer of 2001 with a Master's Degree in Protection and Security Management. In June 2015, I retired from the Army Reserve at the rank of Colonel, and in June 2017 I retired from the NYPD as a Detective Third Grade. However, retirement did not mean that I wanted to stop serving. In 2018, I was appointed to the Rockland County Planning Board by the County Legislature and I have since been serving the people of Rockland County in that capacity. I'm also currently serving in the New York State Guard as the Chief of Staff at the rank of Colonel, and, for five years, I was the Chairman of the Haverstraw Republican Committee.
I must say, these last three appointments have given me a “front-row seat to the big picture" on the realities of the governance in New York State, Rockland County, and the Lower Hudson Valley. For the most part, we have dedicated people working tirelessly on tough assignments. However, let's face the facts, unfortunately, we have some individuals who just don't care about the big picture, but rather, only themselves. This is why I want to leverage my background and skillset to represent you in the New York State Assembly.
Of most importance, you tell me how to vote! I am committed to listening to my constituents and being your voice in the Legislature. You inform me how to vote, in favor or against an issue. You know your neighborhood, the area, you’re on patrol. You're my boss!
